The mobile Web will have to overcome two barriers to be a serious channel

The latest Ofcom report on media use in the UK says “the mobile internet has yet to take off in the mass market” because “the ingredients may now be in place for the mobile internet to take off, uptake is still slow. Only 13% of mobile phone users surveyed in June 2007 were using their mobile to access the internet while 44% were aware.”
So if mobile is going to be commercially viable channel its benefits will have to be promoted to the target user groups not already using it.
The other barrier could be the WAP charges made by mobile operators. Maybe deals could be done with them for reduced charges for access to certain sites. Make the right deal targeting the right segment for access to the right site/s and you could be looking at a tactical advantage over your rivals.

Mobile not be big now, but neither was the Web 10 years ago. And look how that’s changed.
