Will the iPhone bring an appy future for newspapers?
http://blogs.pressgazette.co.uk/wire/6005
iPhone apps alone will not save the whole UK newspaper industry (how many local newspaper readers have iPhones, let alone would pay for an app to get its content?) but they’ll certainly be part of the future for many and, in the meantime, provide a useful source of extra revenue through sales and income from adverts and sponsorship as well as offering advertisers a channel to reach those well-heeled souls who can afford an iPhone, including the much sought-after younger people.
Strategically, they should also get young people more involved with their brands, which should help them survive in the long-term.
