Print is far from dead in the UK

These figures do rather put the idea that print will die in the UK sometime soon to a pretty severe test.
But print as a medium faces pretty severe challenges from rising digital media use, declining advertising revenues and rising costs, particularly newsprint.
The old notion that no new medium completely replaces an old one looks likely to be true here. The $64,000 question, of course, is on the timescale of when digital media become more profitable than print for newspaper brands.
It will depend on how enthusiastically they invest in the future (i.e. iPad apps, Facebook) and how effective they are in getting the younger readers advertisers crave to become involved with their brand and share lots of info about themselves. But also in how mell they can manage their costs in editorial creation.
